A few days ago we listened to the much loved gospel when Jesus says, “Ask, and it will be given to you, search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you” (Luke11:9). I had shared a CwJ post on WhatsApp, on this gospel, a couple of years ago, which I am sharing again today…
This comforting scripture reminded me of the time my youngest sister asked me to pray for my darling niece (who was around 10 years old then). She was participating in an elocution competition at school.
Many of us have our favourite prayer partners. Ram was our family’s prayer partner. So I promptly called him to pray for this intention.
Praise the Lord! My sister called a couple of days later to say my niece had won the third prize🤩. Thank you Jesus.🙏 I conveyed my thanks to Ram for praying. He thanked Jesus saying he had prayed that she get the third prize! When I asked why did he specifically pray for the third place🤔, he said he did not think she would win any prize at all, 😔 so he asked Jesus to at least give her the third prize 😀. When I spoke to my 10 year old niece, she was not impressed🤦♀️ and gave me specific instructions to tell Ram to pray that she gets the first prize, the next time.😀😀
Well, God is listening isn’t he?
Jesus reminds us in Luke11:11-13 What father among you, if his son asked for a fish, would hand him a snake? If you then, evil as you are, know how to give your children what is good, how much more will the Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
Need I say more about the power of prayer and an attentive Father in heaven!
